Located in the Eastern part of Chhattisgarh, and one of the most famous historical cities of Chhattisgarh. Bilaspur is also known for its kosa industry and its cultural background. The city is approximately 400 years and the name bilaspur has been originated from the fisher woman named "Bilasa". Chhattisgarh State High Court at Bilaspur privilege it to host the name Nyaydhani of Chhattisgarh. After the formation of Chhattisgarh state Bilaspur has emerged as the most favorable place to live in the state and developed city townships. Bilaspur is situated on the banks of the Arpa River, which originates from the high hills of the Maikal Range of central India. The climate is pleasant and mild in the winter. Ratanpur
The old capital of Chhattisgarh state, Ratanpur is Situated approximately 25 kilometers away from the Bilaspur. Ratanpur is famous for the Ratanpur fort, temples and number of beatiful and intricately carved statues of God and Godess. From many decades since, the temple and the town of Ratanpur have attracted the attention of scores of historians and archeologists. Surrounded by lush green hills and housing more than 150 ponds, the town is flocked- twice a year - by hundreds of thousands of devotees every year, who visit here in Navrataras. Around the main temple, there are many other temples of equally rich historical and archeological value. The most important of these are Mahamrityunjaya Panchmukhee Shiv Mandir and Kanthi Dewal. Panchmukheee shiv mandir is a magnificant architecture made of red stone and is believed to be the origion of the Mahamaya statue.
Malhar
It is one of the oldest cities of India with a history dating back to 10th century B.C. It is famous for its 10th and 11th centuries temples. Nallhar is 18 kilometers away from the Masturi Block on the Route of Bilaspur-Raigarh. In malhar many ancient temples have been found, such as Pataleshwar Temple. The four handed idol of God Vishnu is also very famous.
Talagram
Talagarm is famous for "Doerani-Jethani" temple and is situated approximately 25 kilometers from Bilaspur on Bhojpur-Dagori road. There is a wonderful stature present tin the temple which is approx. 7ft. high, 4 ft. wide and weighs around 8 tons.
